Singing at the Senator William and Ellen Proxmire Memory Clinic Commemoration

I was truly honored to sing for the commemoration of the Senator William and Ellen Proxmire Memory Clinic yesterday. Senator Proxmire served the US Senate for 32 years for the state of Wisconsin. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's, he was eventually cared for by this facility which encourages research as well as the philosophy of focusing on the positive and the capabilities that our loved ones still have, even while living with this disease. His wife, Ellen, was an active lobbyist and advocate for fighting Alzheimer's and dementia. The Proxmire family, as well as area dignitaries, clinic residents and staff, and members of the community were there yesterday at the Copper Ridge Facility for this celebration. I have seen several suffer from Alzheimer's, including my own grandmother, so this cause is very dear to me. "Amazing Grace" was the favorite song of Mrs. Ellen Proxmire and so appropriate for this commemoration.
